Phase 1 – Down-n-Dirty

A quick down-n-dirty 3D scan using 123D Catch just to get an idea of where the tricky areas are.

iPhone Photo Shoot

Images are shot of the entire bike from as many angles as possible in a time span of 7 minutes. We took photos with an iPhone at various heights as we walked around the bike.

Quick like a monkey we do a rough 360º scan of the bike.

123D Catch Results

The results where not too shabby for a quick scan.

Model Isolation, Cleanup & Render

Using Blender, a powerful open source 3D animation suite, we import the 123D Catch scene for model isolation and clean up. Then we create a 360º Fly-around animation and render it using our community render farm: Sheepit.
